So this summer we decided to take a girls trip; so we went to Country Jam in Colorado. Me, Tiff, Cass, Tina, Amy and Heidi packed up and headed out in the motorhome for 4 days of fun and concerts! We had a ton of fun! If you ever get the chance to do something like this, do it!! I'm pretty sure that some of these pictures shouldn't be on here (it is a family show) but it wouldn't be a genuine Cammie trip without inappropriate, drunken pictures (however there were still some that were omitted!) I absolutely LOVE these girls and truly hope we get a chance to do something like this again...

Dear Journal.....

You don't exist but tonight I wished you did. I am so sad and I know it can be such a small thing for some, but for me, it's huge. My "dumb, fat dog" died tonight and I feel absolutely terrible. Anyone who knows me, or anything about me and "Baby", knows who i'm talking about. She was a big pain in the ass but i've loved her more and more every year that i've had her. Such a pain in the ass to ever try and take care of, I neglected for a long time having her teeth taken care of. She finally got so damn stinky, we couldn't stand it any longer. She went in Monday for a dental cleaning and because she was such a "sweet puppy" to others, she was fully sedated (that's probably standard but even if it wasn't, she would've had to have been knocked out!) She ended up having to have 7 teeth pulled, needless to say, our problem disappeared! I could stand having her right next to me to snuggle (which Gary was thrilled about) She didn't snap out of it though and started to act like she was having troubles breathing; now Gary said she was just "pouting" because I had all of her teeth pulled but I knew there was something wrong. I insisted on taking her to the Vet even though he was ready to go home; when I got there she was in terrible distress and despite everything he tried.....she left me. Probably a blood clot, who knows, all I know is she had plenty of "pain in the ass" left in her. I feel so guilty and I hope that she didn't suffer today while I slept; I should've taken her in sooner.

I am exhausted with all of the tragedy that has surrounded us lately; I fear loss everyday. Sometimes I fear losing the people around me that I love so much, so often that I beg for me to leave them before they can leave me. I guess that means that I know what love really is and because of that, I realize how lucky I am. I am not afraid of dying, I am afraid of outliving. I am consumed with the panic of not knowing when my last days with someone I love may be. I try to live knowing that everyone I love, knows how much I love them but that doesn't make it feel better when they leave.

I loved that stupid dog so much! I hate that with love, there is loss. I hate that my fears consume me, I feel like if I don't get control I will start losing grip on today and the promise that it's one more day with all of the love in my life.

I love my husband, I love my beautiful kids, I love my mom and dad(s), I love my sisters, I love my extended family, I love my friends and I love Baby. I miss the ones that are too far for me to see and enjoy everyday; I can't imagine any of them gone from my life.

I love you Baby, i'm so, so sorry that you left me already. You were a good dog and we really loved having you around. I hope you remembered Angel and I hope that you are with her now to be taken care of.....

The haircut(s)

So Cass decided that she wanted to cut her hair and donate it before they started her treatment. When Gracie heard that all of Aunt Cassie's hair was going to fall out, she wanted to cut hers too. She thought it was only fair to cut her hair short too so that Cassie "wouldn't be the only one". So we headed over to Kat's for a girls night at the salon. Gracie was so excited! They are both beautiful and I couldn't ask for a more perfect match then those two. Gracie told me before Cassie shared her "news": "Mom, why didn't Aunt Cassie have any girls?" I told her that because she got sick, she was not able to have anymore babies and that only the boys got a chance to "pick her" from heaven. Grace said "you know how I like chocolate and Cassie likes chocolate?; How I love to read and Aunt Cassie loves to read?" I said "yeah..." She said, "I think that I meant to pick Cassie from heaven because we like the same things but when Jesus told me she couldn't have anymore babies; I picked you because you were her sister." Such a simple explanation for why we were blessed with her....

Another Thanksgiving with my family; this year with a special twist. It's been a long time since I took a deep look into myself and was thankful for everything i've been given in my life. My heart is so full of intense love for my family and friends; I truly can't imagine my life without any of you. We all face challenges and struggles but everyone one of us can and have made it through because we have each other. What more could we ask for?

Stansbury Football

So I literally have over 250 pictures of Gav's football season this year. They are an unbelievable team. They struggled with injuries and a team that only consisted of 16 players to start. They went undefeated AGAIN this season and brought home their 4th consecutive State Championship! Then we took them on the road for a tournament in Mesquite, Nevada. We played two amazing teams and SHUT THEM BOTH OUT again taking a championship trophy home. I am very proud of Gavin and all of his accomplishments, he is a very talented athlete. Love you bud....

So we had a Halloween get-together at our house this year; it was great to have all of our family and friends there. Cass & Corey came as Fred & Wilma, my mom was a sexy 70's babe, the girls were dead cheerleaders, the boys were cha-cha girls...great fun! We also got to go and see Lexi perform in "Thriller", the kids loved it!

Gavin's Birthday Trip to San Francisco

So Aunt Carol called and said "I'd like to give Gavin 4, 6th row tickets to the 49'ers vs. Chargers game on his birthday" and so we said "Ok"!! So the Griswold's packed up grandma's van and headed to San Francisco. We drove Wednesday right after work and stayed the night in Reno then got up 1st thing Thursday and headed to San Francisco. We took a trip to Alcatraz, went to the hotel, told Gavin to change his clothes and that his surprise was just a few minutes away. When we got to the stadium, Gavin was beyond happy! The seats were awesome and it couldn't have been a better birthday present for a 13 year old kid! Thank you so much Aunt Carol, I know he'll never forget his first birthday as a teenager!!

Gary and I took Gavin out to ride his motorcycle for awhile at the Deseret Peak Complex. He loves it but it makes me a little nervous. For Gavin, anything that could cause "sick" injuries....is right up his alley!!

So Gary got tickets to both the RUSH concert as well as the Scorpions, Tesla, and Jackyl for Father's Day. No pics of RUSH (it was just Gary & I) but man did we have a great time with Rick, Heidi, Gary, and Marty at the Scorps!! Look for us in the Guiness Book of World Records for the largest group of "air guitar" players!! And as you will soon be able to see, there was plenty of $8 beers (some pictures have been omitted because this is a family blog!!

Lake Powell 2010

This year in Lake Powell was a little different than it's been the last few years. A couple new faces but it was all family and all fun. The weather was exciting to say the least with heavy rain and beautiful lightening shows at night. It was a great week with all of the expecteds & unexpecteds that come with this trip. Chris and Holly celebrated their relationship together by having a commitment ceremony this year in May. The whole thing was absolutely beautiful and I am so happy that both family and friends came to join in celebrating their happiness together.

Once again we were back at Hunter Cyprus for Gav and the boys' last year at the "little park". They wrapped up their "Major" season taking 3rd in State. These boys have been playing together since they were in t-ball and I have loved watching them grow up together. I am so excited to see what next year brings at the "big park"!!

Sierra had such a great year this year on Dance Company. Both of the girls have such a natural talent and grace in dancing. It was fun to watch Sierra make so many great friends and really find her way as a freshman in a new High School. Sierra successfully made it onto next year's Company and tried out for "Historian" which we'll find out tomorrow. Stay tuned....

Gracie's Surgery

So I know all of you are well aware of the problems that Grace has had with her ears since she was an infant. We found our 5th E.N.T. who was willing to look beyond the typical "middle ear infection". What they found was that Gracie has been suffering from Mastoiditis. It's an infection in the Mastoid (section of skull above her ear). They had to drill into her skull to relieve and drain the infection; there was alot of infection and some damage to her ear drum but so far she has been a trooper. We went for another follow-up today and she looks good, no drainage and her hearing is very good considering. Thank you all for your prayers and love...

So the Griswold's took another vacation, this time over Spring Break. We decided to drive down to see the Hoover Dam. We stayed in Primm, Nevada for a couple of days, then we drove to the Dam, then we headed the long and scenic way to Grandma Cheryl's for the night. We are so lucky to have kids that are great sports and still enjoy going places with their mom & dad. We had a great time.....

I have really put my kids through the ringer this year! It started with Gav; he had to have 4 more teeth pulled to try and help out the orthodontist. His mouth is too small (nothing like mine!) and his teeth just aren't fitting so out they came. He was swollen for almost 2 weeks :(

Gracie's 6th Birthday!!

I can't believe it; Gracie Kaye is 6 years old!! It makes me so sad yet so proud of the beautiful little girl she has become. I am so proud of everyone of my kids and I am so thankful that they are mine. Birthday parties are getting harder and harder to do for the girls because of the Holidays but this year we were able to rent the whole bowling alley at the Depot and all of the kids had a blast! We are already planning the HUGE Sweet 16 for Gracie's sister next year!!

Gav had the opportunity to play football again with all the great kids he played with last year. Needless to say, they had another great, undefeated season and once again took the State Championship (3 consecutive years). We are very proud of Gavin and his dedication to himself, his coaches, his team, and his family.

So I play the "infamous" game of Bunco with a group of Tooele girlies who are a blast. This year we decided to go with KISS as our costumes so me, Cass, Kat and Shannon met at Kat's house and put on our faces. Heather (Peg Bundy) caught a ride to Brianna's with us but she looked so hot, we told her that she could be our groupie for the night. We had a great time and after Bunco was over; we headed to Walmart for some last minute football treats for the boys game the next day....They'll kill us when they get old enough to care...lol

Deer Widow's Weekend 2009

October is the time for parties, friends and some harmless ol' ladies pinchin' bums in Wendover for Deer Widow's Weekend. I can say this now that i'm of legal age; but i've been going to Deer Widow's with Tina and my sister for at least 17 years (OMG!!) Every year is a little different, sometimes more company, sometimes less but ALWAYS a great time!! This is the time that we all let our hair down a little and really enjoy each other and what we've been given. California/Calli & T.J.'s Wedding

So we headed for Santa Cruz in September to see Gary's "other" family and to attend his sister Calli's wedding. This was only our 2nd in-person get together with Calli, our 1st meeting with his brother Chris and the 1st time that all of them were together as a family.
We stopped and stayed with Gary's Aunt Carol for the 1st day and a half and she took us to some absolutely beautiful places. She also made sure to remember Gary's birthday and had a cake waiting for him when we got there. Carol and Bruce are wonderful family.
Calli's wedding was unforgettable and their family made us feel so welcome. It was a great feeling being able to meet everyone in-person and share stories. We hope that someday soon, they will get the opportunity to come and stay in Utah and meet our half of the family.

So Gracie started full-time kindergarten this year at St. Marguerite's and she LOVES it! She is so smart; already reading, doing simple addition and subtraction, things that i'm pretty sure Gavin wasn't taught until 2nd grade! I love the education that this school is providing her and i'm sad that she might have to start public school next year. Still, nothing can take away the fundamentals that they've already given her....

Well, another year of school gone by...Gracie just graduated from her second year of preschool with honors!! She has done so well at St. Marguerite's and the whole staff has been amazing! She is definately staying there at least one more year because they offer full-time kindergarten and she is more than ready for full time school (not to mention some alone time for Gary and I) She is unbelieveably smart and I have resigned to the fact that my kids have all inherited that trait from their dads!! Good job sweetheart, we are all so proud of you!!

This year my sister is celebrating her 9th year in remission of breast cancer. I believe that it was her strength and courage to live for her kids that have gotten her through even the toughest times. From the day that she was diagnosed until today; Cassie has come across many friends and acquaintences who have been diagnosed and succumbed to this disease. All of our lives have changed immensley and it has made each of us live stronger. I will always have a fear in my heart because of the scare of losing her but I know that she is a fighter and will never let anything beat her! So here's to all of the people in my life who are also fighting breast cancer or the fear of losing a loved one to breast cancer; may your fight be strong and successful....

We were so lucky to be able to spend Easter Weekend this year with Gary's mom Cheryl & Biggi. This is the first time that we were able to and the weather actually cooperated too!! The kids had a great time, after that is, having their first "run-in" with the Sheriff of Wayne County!! We took a hike into Capitol Reef which happened to be my first time ever and had a great time. I love that the kids actually enjoyed being in the outdoors and learning some history while we were there. We're all looking forward to spending some more time there in June or July...

Our first loss....

Well last night was Gav's first loss in a long time. The Mets played the A's last night and got "smoked" 8 to 0. The reason why it's important for me to post this is because it's important for Gavin and everyone else to know that it's still okay to lose when you are so used to winning. Gavin had a great game with 2 beautiful hits and no errors fielding. His biggest frustration is that some of the kids on his team do not feel the same love for the game as he does. He told me on the way home last night, "Mom, I don't care that we lost; what pisses me off is the kids who don't even give a crap about playing". That was a huge statement for me and I told Gav that he will have so many more experiences in life where he will be more passionate about something than his counterparts. What I hope he will learn from this baseball season is that as long as he is giving 100%, he will be successful in everything he does. So, good job last night Gav and be proud of yourself.....

Every year Sierra's school, the Salt Lake Arts Academy puts on a Gala performance. It really shows the artistic talents of the students. This year Sierra and a couple of her friends were given the opportunity to choreograph a dance to perform in the Gala. I'm sure that it will be a great night...If you want to come and support Sierra and her school, it will take place on Thursday, May 7th and Friday May 8th and tickets can be purchased at the Jeanne Wagner Theatre.

So finally Gracie gets to do something that she loves to do...She's been in Ken's Gymnastics for about a month now and she absolutely loves it! From the very first day she has done extremely well and we've already been told by her teacher that she is more than ready to move up to Level 2. Grace has been so much fun for our family, she is such an amazing little girl who reminds us everyday how quickly she is growing up. Already in Preschool she has excelled at writing her full name, her address and phone number, along with counting to 100 without missing a number. She is doing simple addition and is quite the artist to boot! Gracie has come a long way in the performing arts since her "stage fright" incident a couple years ago. Often you will find her upstairs with her IPod on singing away like she's center stage. She's also learned the karaoke machine and loves to watch herself on the TV screen, what can I say...like mother, like daughter!!!

Gav's also playing flag football (I know, as if the kid didn't have enough on his plate!) Willie, his regular season football coach, got a team together to play flag football during the off season. The kids are great, but unfortunately we haven't had much for competition as of yet. Our first game was last Saturday and our score was in the "triple digits" before they stopped taking score. This weekend wasn't much better at 90 to 7. Regardless, it keeps Gav focused and gives him the opportunity to stay in touch with his football buds!!

Yesterday was the Official Opening Ceremonies for baseball...let the games begin!! Gav moved up to the majors this year so we're looking forward to some pretty intense, hard played games of baseball! The rules have changed a bit which means alot more competitive play. Gavin is excited of course, every year is like the 1st year he started. He loves the game and he has made such awesome friendships over the last few years. So watch for the Mets, we'll be out there makin' some noise!!

Oh my gosh it's been a busy few weeks!! I had to have surgery, my foot was broken and not looking like it was going to get better anytime soon so they opened me up and put 2 screws in. OUCH!! Hey everyone,

We are playing with the idea of participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-day cancer walk. There are several different locations this year, however none in Salt Lake. So, I was thinking “how about making it into a girl’s trip for a great cause?” Cassie is celebrating her 9th year in remission and there is a walk in Denver, Co. the weekend of her birthday. The exact dates are Aug. 28th-30th, 2009. So we could go down Thurs. Aug 27th and maybe come home Monday Aug 31st. Each participant is required to raise $2,300.00 on their own to participate in the walk. I know it sounds like a lot of money but we still have a little over 4 months to raise it.
Anyway, I am sending the link with all the information in this e-mail so please take a look at it, I think it sounds like a blast and would definitely be a trip of a lifetime! We would need to make a decision as soon as possible so that we can all register, form a team and start raising money. E-mail me as soon as you can…

Oh my God, for the first time in a long time I think alcohol got the best of me!! How cheesey and seriously geriatric we felt at the "Air Supply" concert! And the worst part, I was so emotional and was crying and telling my sis how much I loved her and it went on and on and on....We had a great time, Jenn putting makeup on those of us who rarely wear it (hence the black eyeliner, ugh) and i'll have to admit there were some pics that just couldn't make it onto the blog!! But, I did get the one-hundred and six year old lead singer to plant a big ole' kiss on the lips while singing "You're the only woman in the world to me"....What can I say, I guess i've still got it (or I smelled like preperation H which turned him on)...

So it's Valentines Day and I thought I would have "one up" on my sweetie today by starting early and leaving a "Pre-Valentine" out on the counter last night. I should've known better!! He did one better and left a huge bouquet of balloons and a beautiful arrangement of roses, orchids, and lillies on my desk at work so that I would get them first thing this morning. The thing is, everyone who walks by and comments says something like "Oh, how sweet, what a nice guy", and I say "yeah, he's amazing". But it doesn't matter if it's Valentine's Day or Tuesday afternoon; Gary is always like this, always doing something that reminds me how and why I fell in love with him.

Today is Jenn's birthday. If you don't know who Jenn is, you should be ashamed of yourself!! The funny thing is; for those of us who do know Jenn...you all chuckled because you know what i'm talking about! Jenn and I have been B.F.F.'s since she came knocking on our door in 1977 looking for someone to play with. Jenn and I have a special bond that really can't be described. We have had some interesting times as far as relationships go yet through the fights, separations, tears, and general life experiences we have remained true to each other just like friends should. Jenn has overcome single parenting, financial depression and typical relationship woes to become a very accomplished, successful, beautiful, depended-on woman. She is always there for me when I need advice or a laugh and I truly consume everything she offers. I attribute most of her success to myself but give her credit for being smart enough to keep me around. To know us is to love us but generally people don't love us together! We have a humor and quality about us that really has to be taken for what it's worth. What we do offer as friends is just that; true friendship that will always be there for you when you need it. So, here's to the infamous Jenn on her birthday, let us all remember the most important thing today and that is that she will always be 3 weeks older than me!! Love ya!!!

It's my first born, baby boy, nephew's 14th birthday today!! I woke up this morning with somewhat of a hangover and there he was. I gave him a great big hug and wished him Happy Birthday!! Oh, I love him. And my heart breaks now when I see him. The staple of our family, he's so weak now. The legacy that he's created and the path he's set for us to follow....Nephi, the cabin, sleepovers w/granma brushing her hair while he's screamin'...."MARIE" for something. Always making sure that his kids and grandkids had what they needed but not without learning to work for it. Letting us ride Queenie, IF we could catch her (he's not dumb). Spending hours in the field while watching us play in the rocky hills. I can't help but wonder how many more days we have with him and what will happen to "US" when he's gone. He's all we have left and I hope grandma lets us keep him a little longer. Thank you grandpa for giving us everything a great family needs......Love you

Here are some pictures of the annual get-together at Grampa Harold's house. Out of all the reasons that I enjoy Christmas; this has got to be the most important one to me. This is really the only other time that I get to spend time with my extended family besides Nephi in the summer. I still remember when I was Gracie's age and all of us kids would go downstairs, dress up like the "Bible posse" and torture the newest baby in the family by wrapping "them/it" with a sheet to play Jesus. All "Cammie-ness" aside; it was a fun tradition back in times when we all loved each other and were taught the true meaning of Christmas. As time goes by, the gathering families get smaller and the time spent together gets less and less. I regret so much that my children have not been given all of the same opportunities that we were given as kids. Don't get me wrong; we have a great time together and i'm sure these little cuties will remember it always too....
